The WoT series is several slots below Gibbon's Decline and Fall on my must read list. Reading that series was a little bit like gaining, and then painfully losing, a heroin habit. I appreciate your suggestion, but "the author who took over for the dead guy can probably get this thing wrapped up in just one more massive novel" is not the greatest endorsement ever.

Lol, understood, I just enjoyed the Eye of the world and the next 3 novels so much as a teenager that it will always hold a special place in my memories along with Diablo 2.

Try The Way of Kings by Brandon Sanderson. Greatest fantasy novel I've read in a decade. The Mistborn series is also another great by him... truly I think he is the best modern fantasy writer, and I'd love to see a Mistborn game.

I tried to like the Game of Thrones book, but it felt messy, like the author just sat down and wrote about one character, then the next day went on to another, without a thought to the story; it's almost like a daytime soap opera. You could cut out half the book easily and not lose any of the story.

Ahem, What is WoT series? I need something new to read.

"WoT" is Wheel of Time. It is a good read, though probably not as great as everyone seems to think. I felt that a lot of the story was ripped from other (better) stories. But it is worth picking up if you are looking for something to take up the next couple of months (Each book is right around the thousand page mark).

The new author has done an excellent job on the new WoT books. They're actually better than the previous few efforts that Jordan put in.

A Song of Ice and Fire (aka Game of Thrones) is the better series though. And the TV show is excellent as well. Although saying that I actually think the books would have been better with most of the fantasy stuff removed. (apart from the undead...gotta keep the zombies...)

Has cyanide produced any decent games. Their website doesn't inspire confidence.

Also, anyone bought this game yet? Does it suck?

A medieval bar fight game would have been better. Or more like tavern fight.

I find this comment strange after your endorsement of The Way of Kings.

Depending on how many books Sanderson plans to have in his new series, I will wait a bit before getting started on that. Unfortunately I haven't found much new stuff to read lately...so i have been reading urban fantasy...blech. Vampires/Werewolves/etc, oh my!!! :(
I did really like "Ready Player One" by Ernest Cline though, so many 80s references!!!

The 1st three books of George RR Martin's ASoIaF series were quite, good, but as Vulgar mentioned, by the 4th book, there were not many good characters left alive to root for, :)
