Found this by accident on Steam. Looks like a RTS based on the Game of Thrones universe. Has anyone heard anything about this game? The developer is Cyanide Studios, which has developed some forgettable games in the past.

Looks hideous.

Game of Thrones universe would be great for an RPG though.

It would be acceptable if Bethesda somehow got to make an RPG like morrowind/oblivion/skyrim on George R R Martin's novels.

By acceptable I mean I would probably shit my pants in excitement for such a game.

They'll just keep releasing expansion packs that you can play in four hours, but the game will never really end.

I can't imagine what part of the story they've found that would make for a good RTS? Most of Game of Thrones is intrigue, human interactions and descriptions of food.

Haha, QFT, but you forgot "leering descriptions of the sex lives of dwarves and thirteen year-old princesses." I think that's the part that got him the TV deal.

I don't have HBO so I've only seen the first episode of the TV series but man did they make the giant of Lannister much better looking than he is in my imagination..

Haven't seen it either, but he was definitely described as homely at best from the beginning, and later downright gruesome.

honestly, GoT is a great show, but seriously? 9 700 page volumes focused on around the author's cynicism and infatuation with torture porn and midgets doesn't really excite me.

Bethesda made a good choice.

The game is actually a prequel to the books that tells the story of the "War of the Usurper."

So basically you get to either be Robert Baratheon/Ned Stark leading the rebellion or the Mad King Aerys and put down the rebels. At least I think I read that on RPS a while back.

A song of fire and ice is awesome because as soon as you think someone is the main character and they are going to save the day they get annihilated. It borders on sheer hilarity the reckless abandon George R R Martin excercises with dispatching his main characters.

As soon as you start liking someone they die. It's starting to get a little tiresome even, but it's definitely a change of pace from most literature.

I loved the books but couldn't get into the show. It just feels strange getting to know all these characters through 4 books, imagining how they look and sound, and then seeing them in live-action. Also, just my opinion, some of the acting is below average, and some of the accents are hideous. I'm not one of those smug "da bookz R bettar durp de durp!!" people, so I wouldn't say either is better, just different.

Anyway, never fear - there will be many user mods based on the series released for Skyrim. It'll be 2012's LOTR.

You guys are missing out. Such an awesome show!

yes but I have read the books so I'm aware of the plotline.

Basis of the game sounds interesting. Since they're covering the War of Usurper does that include the Tower of Joy at the end ???? ?????

It's one of those shows that I might watch several years from now if HBO licenses it to Netflix and watching it doesn't consume too much of my $7.99 monthly watching budget.

I quit reading the books when I got to the end of the, what was it... fourth or fifth book... when Martin informed the reader that, gosh, he hadn't been able to fit all the characters into one novel and had to split it.

Robert Jourdan's spiritual successor is what this guy is. He and Martin are the very reason I refuse to purchase any new multi-volume epic until the last book is written and on the discount shelves and the author is dead and buried. Of course, they both made millions and I made pasta for dinner last night, so there you have it.

You should read the latest WoT books, Sanderson has seriously advanced the plot to the point where I can't envision more than one books remaining.

It's honestly a pretty good read, but the delays he puts into the books to work on other projects and his age makes it unlikely that he will finish the series.

The WoT series is several slots below Gibbon's Decline and Fall on my must read list. Reading that series was a little bit like gaining, and then painfully losing, a heroin habit. I appreciate your suggestion, but "the author who took over for the dead guy can probably get this thing wrapped up in just one more massive novel" is not the greatest endorsement ever.
