Game looks pixelated

I have a Voodoo3 2000 graphics card and was wondering why my Age of Empires game looks so pixelated. Is there something I need to do to get it to look smoother? Or am I at the limitations of the graphics card. I have a KDS Avitron 195tf monitor. Do I need to set the resolution to a specific setting before starting up the game?

Is that even a Direct3D game? I think it's a plain 2d DirectDraw game and won't benefit from your video card.

Can you run it at a higher resolution?

Age of Empires doesn't have very good graphics.

That's weird.. my 4mb video card runs AOE fairly well. I think what Vinny said was right.

AOE is a 2d game it doesnt use d3d.. just make sure u have directx7 loaded properly and it should work fine...
