Game kicks you back into windows when playing

I have a Hercules 4500 MB Video card. When I play Counter-Strike or Aliens. vs Predator 2, it works for a while (or not at all) and then it kicks me back into windows. What's the problem? I have the right drivers, I run XP, I have a AMD 1.3GHz computer and I'm still having problems. By the way, I use to have Windows 2000 running? Would that become at issue?

Did you uninstall the drivers completely?
