Game Hosting: What's the scoop on this? Are there free/reliable places?

I am looking for a way to start hosting my own servers for games. Two opensource games, Tremulous and Nexuis and maybe some others. Preferably free, but if it does cost some money the cheaper the better. Anybody out here do this? What are your experiances? Is there anyway to do this from a webserver? (That may be a stupid question, I know...but I don't know the answer so I must ask)
