I'm looking for a good gaming headset to play games like COD, BF3/4 and such .I have seen some with usb and some with a 3.5 jack .Any help would be fantastic ! Price would be 80 to 100 US dollars .
Kingston HyperX series are very good in that price range or less on Sale.
My experience with USB v 3.5mm Jack is that there is not enough difference on those factors alone to warrant worrying about. Some 3.5mm might be better with an Amp, so that may give some of them an edge, but either way Build Quality and initial Audio/Mic quality should have more weight on the decision.
Basically, the 3.5mm jack is an analog audio connection. It can connect to sound cards. USB is a digital connection, and connects to the PC. Most gaming audio files are digital. There is more device flexibility with the 3.5 jack, but since your primary objective is gaming audio, I am inclined to recommend USB. There are manufacturers such as Intel who would like to abandon the old 3.5 jack.
Thanks very much . I was trying some headphones I had from logitec (wifes) . When I hooked them up with the 3.5 jack, the logitec software couldn't detect them, but the MB sound did . When I used the usb, the logitec software did detect the headset . Learned some new things here .
