right now i use trendmicro internet security 2005 but is this a resource hog? I heard that av+firewall can cause poor performance in games. If my current combo is a bad choice for gaming, then what is the best light weight protection i can get?

don't you need firewall though? Pc that are online always get attacked by trojans. Is that antivir just a virus scanner or does it also have firewall

I sit behind a router, which acts as a firewall for incoming connections. Also leave SP2 firewall on, haven't had any problems. For me, AntiVir doesn't take enough resources to make a noticeable difference in game performance.

i was using bitdefender for a week, and it's too... invasive for my tastes. it controls everyyything much like norton internet security. so i'm back to antivir for now. it seems the lockup problems are gone.

NOD32 is what I use for AV, it's about as slim as you can get, while still having amazing detection rates. AntiVir is good for a free solution. still looking for a good lightweight firewall though(currently using a slim ver. of Kerio).
