I'm looking to buy a new game console, already got PS2 & Dreamcast. Kinda leaning towards the Game Cube, but then XBox has some pretty cool titles. Which ones would do you recommend?

HiTek21, IMHO, it all depends on what type of games you like to play. For example, if you like racing games, the XBox would be better than a GC.

All depends on what games you like. Look thru each software catalog and whichever has more then pick that one :D

Fourth tip: Modding consoles is overhyped.

Fifth tip: GameCube is excellent for Triple-A single-player games (Resident Evil, Eternal Darkness, Mario Sunshine, StarFox Adventures, Metroid Prime, etc.).

Sixth tip: Xbox is excellent for multi-player games, especially first person shooters (Halo, Unreal Championship). Excellent for racing games (Rallisport, MotoGP, SegaGT; rip your own soundtrack for each). Excellent for online games. More PC ports (Return to Castle Wolfenstein, DOOM3, Medal of Honor, Morrowind). If you have a home theater, Xbox supports 5.1 Dolby Digital and 480P for every game.

I have both. Kinda hushes the "what if's" when you can only get one.

Seventh Tip: Just stick with your PC. It loves you, you love it. Neither Microsoft nor Sony and maybe not even Nintendo love you.

You've got a point. As much as I like gaming on a 55" 16:9 HDTV with full surround, nothing beats staring at a 21" (if that) monitor in my computer chair. Now that's love.

That's what 5.1 speakers and sound cards and TVout/Component out is for.

I had a chance to own all three systems. Gamecube is a joke. By the first week I was pretty much tired of all the games out for the gamecube. The same with the XBOX although to a lesser degree. There are good games but not that many selections out. One thing that I do love about the XBOX is the wide variety of things you can do with it (modding, homebrew software, etc). I highly suggest getting an XBOX, installing a modchip so you can run the various homebrew software out there (every emulated system out there has pretty much been ported to XBOX). I recently hacked the intro screen on my XBOX with my own pictures. It's very fun to play with.

That's a pretty good point there. That Xbox shore does look cool, but dear lord, is that thing heavy!! I couldn't pick it up easily with one hand. Don't let that influence your purchase though...unless you've got girl hands like me

i'm going to have to argue that these tips... i believe that GC is a great console for multi-player games. i mean who else has super smash bros??? this IS the BEST game to play with other people. and in the future, they will come out with more multiplayer titles. also, the GC has great single player games (which i never buy... i rent b/c after i beat it, i usually don't play again). therefore, i think the tip should say:

GC great for single player and multiplayer gamees...

I have both systems and I like both systems, but if I only had to choose one for the long run it would be Xbox. My Xbox just gets more playing time.

My GameCube games: Beach Spikers, Etenal Darkness (haven't played since beaten), Smash Brothers (only play when friends want a break from Halo), Super Monkey Ball, Resident Evil (haven't played since beaten).

My Xbox games: Gunvalkyrie, JSRF (haven't played in a month or so), Halo, Project Gotham Racing, DOA 3 (only play when friends get tired of Halo :p ), Hunter the Reckoning, NFL 2K3, NBA 2K2, Dead to Rights, Amped (haven't played in a month)

I prefer Gamecube just because I liek teh fun, kiddy, party type of games liek Smash Brothers, Super Monkey Ball, etc. I can't wait till Mario Tennis comes to the Gamecube in who knows how many years but it'll be worth the wait. I'm not a hardcore console gamer, I game on my computer.

Since you already have a PS2 I would get a game cube because most of the good games that are on X-box are on PS2. With a Gamecube you get all the Nintendo brand games which look pretty fun.

I would say the choice is simple get a gamecube.

At least that is what I would do if confronted with your decision, BTW I have a dreamcast and a X-box.
