Many "S-Video" cables for consoles do not actually make an S-Video connection. They just convert the composite signal to an S-Video connector. That might not be the problem here, but I just thought I'd throw it out there.

Its not the TV tuner or its drivers, wait, make sure you have newest drivers

I have that tv tuner and it does what DScaler does on its own

Which means it probably is the cable - the one for your PS2 is good; the one for the GC is not. If it were the card, both consoles would look like that, IMO. It might be the GC itself, but I doubt it. Have you tried hooking it to a regular TV?

My 20" TV will produce a picture like that if you try to run anything through the composite connections; I had to pick up a switch box and new cables for my two consoles so that I could run them and my DVD player through the one S-video input available.

well, when i run the gamecube on normal cable (or through RCA bits on this cable) it looks like this

and on my tv through same cable it looks pretty much the same. i dont have a tv with s-video so i cant test that.

If any of your friends have a TV with an S-video connection, I would take the GC and the cable to their house to test it out. Or just go out and buy an different cable to see if it makes any difference. If it doesn't, you can always return it.

Couldn't it just be the signal itself, and it looks like arse on the PC because the screen is better?

just a theory.
