I have a PS3 and an Xbox 360 and no games for either one. I use the PS3 mostly for blu-rays, and the Xbox 360 mostly for Netflix streaming.

I have played through and beaten the following games on each system:

PS3:
Valkyria Chronicles (amazing)

Xbox 360:
Burnout Revenge, Enchanted Arms

I prefer mostly RPG type games...

So, what do I need?

here are some ideas I had: Mass Effect, Tales of Vesperia, Lost Odyssey

Don't bother with Infinite Undiscovery, it's terrible. If you don't like annoying children (which is pretty much every character) and anime, you should probably steer clear of Tales of Vesperia as well. Lost Odyssey is great with nary an annoying child in sight. The Last Remnant is also good if you can stand the technical issues (the PC version is much better). Eternal Sonata is a nice game, but really easy and kind of childish. Same for Blue Dragon.

Sacred 2 is alright if you like action RPGs, and Kingdom Under Fire can be fun despite its negative reviews.

You didn't think Cooke and Mack were annoying children? FOR SERIOUS?

Not at all. Decent voice actors and the pitch didn't rupture my eardrums.

The semi-obvious RPG answers are Oblivion/Fable 2/Fallout 3, although it depends heavily on whether you're an exploration-type RPGer or a story-oriented one, as these games are lighter in story elements but in excess of 40 hours apiece if you're an obsessive completist.

fable 2 is a definetly on my wtb list... but I have beaten Fallout 3 on pc, and have no desire to play oblivion.. I tried it out..I like RPG's that are around 20-40 hours total

Their voices are annoying unless you enjoy watching "Rugrats" while playing video games.

Eternal Sonata is better for PS3 (2 more playable characters, extra dungeon), and I enjoyed it as a fan of real RPG's (JRPG) :)

If you're gonna get Fallout 3, wait a month and get the GoTY edition with all the addon expansions.

Newegg has a bunch of games that are $10-15 with free shipping.

You might like
Operation Darkness - WW II SRPG with Nazi vampires
Crackdown - superhero game
Dark Sector - third person shooter with the glaive from Krull, dumb fun. PS3 version has sixaxis tilt control of the glaive
