Game AI Class: Know an open source game that needs AI/better AI?

This semester I'm taking a class on Game AI. For the big project it is preferable to find an existing open source game that either lacks AI, has AI that could use big improvements, or has decent AI but could have a different AI implemented that changes the gameplay experience for the better.

The last open source game I played was Sea3D, and I believe another team has already claimed that. Before that I played some Wesnoth, but it already seemed to have good AI.

Any ideas?

I'm not at all familiar with open source games, but OpenArena may be useful to you. I played it once long ago, and it was kind of fun. Arena style combat games can always use better AI, so maybe you can work with this.
