I was gonna pick up the SP for $99 the other day at bestbuy, but decided not too and picked up spearhead and blackhawk down instead. Is anyone gonna make a comparable device that will be in the same price range as the GBA? This thing plus Streefighter/Tekken makes a great time killer.:D

BTW I just learned that this thing is backward compatible with B&W GB games also:D:p, wow! How can anyone compete.

the point of MS competing in consoles is to keep sony from using the console to take over your house, because MS wants the PC to do that. so i doubt MS will. sony may, eventually. though i don't think PS2 is a huge money maker for them so far... could be wrong though.

Nintendo owns the portable market...sony or MS would have to come up with something incredible to even dent the gameboy seales IMO.

the gameboy SP is amazing a kid down the hall has it and its perfect, the light is so much better than the perpetually black screen on the original GBA and the compact size is great, overall a great product. Also the rechargable battery is a plus, runs for a very long time and u can polay while its plugged in, saves so much money on bateries, and only 1 game wont work with it (kirbys tilt thing) cause the card slot is reversed

and the only ccompetition so far is the Nokia N-gauge, but its a cellphone, Mp3 player, and a handheld all together... and it doesnt have as large a supposrt as the GBA, and the opnly thing Nokia has said about price is "Definatly under $549" sounds promising now doesnt it?

I don't see it happening. Look at the sheer number of games available for the systems (as they've all been backwards compatible).....

Unless Sony sat down and made a portal PS1 (with small cartridges) I don't see it happening...

and then you'd still have to rebuy things... i play my 1989 vintage GB games on my GBA (was the main reason i bought it)

i'll bet porting snes games costs almost nothing, as well. damn, thats a cash cow!

Sony MAYBE, but I doubt it. MS definately won't. The market's not ready for a "hand held" that weighs in at 40Lbs :)

hmm seems my post on the n-gauge goes unnoticed...

and i think that they may try to compete at sometime but i dont beleive that anybody other than nintendo will hold sway in the market

Microsoft would get their ass handed to them by Nintendo if they tried to make a handheld. Is MS did make one it would probably be HUGE anyway.
