I'm "out". I don't want you, me or anyone banned from this site over a stupid bet. This is suppose to be a site on which to have fun. I find this site fun. Posts here amuse me. Why would I want you gone and not posting?

Because Don hates you, so you have to leave.

For any bet to make sense, there would have to be some sort of line / points. At this point Romney is a prohibitive underdog, with all the electoral math working against him and all the battleground states leaning the wrong way. I'd need some sort of "points" (whatever the equivalent would be).

I'd say a threshhold on number of electoral votes would be a way to break it down.

:D You actually believe you are important? Why would someone so unimportant as you actually make me angry? :D Hubris, thy name is Don Vito. Oh wait, sorry. Excessive self pride is what you are showing. Sorry for confusing you.

You can shed a lot of anger that way. You can also try devout prayer, though you do not strike me as the religious kind.

Physician, heal thyself. If there is a more narcissistic, angry person riding the bus to work in Scranton, I hope never to meet him.

:D You are still doubling down on your statements about people who take the bus are failures. And you got the city wrong.

Failure is what you enjoy, though, so I am happy you are doing what you love.

I don't hate anyone here. I've never even met anyone here. I consider A777pilot (at least his online persona) a distasteful bigot and have told him so in the past. Obviously I am only interested in betting people whose absence would, from my personal perspective, enhance this forum. There are any number of them on the liberal end of the spectrum as well, but I would not expect them to be interested in betting that Romney will win.

Aren't you supposed to be gone anyway, since Rick Santorum officially lost the nomination?

Please don't derail the thread intentionally with your usual off topic bullshit. Either take DVCs bet, or get the hell out of the thread.

Oh, and my offer stands as well. Same terms as DVC.

Then why not bet on it? Or do you think your bet would jinx it?

In fairness to him, I take him at his word that he doesn't want anyone here banned. I don't believe for one second that he is seriously confident that Romney will win by that margin, though I'm sure he'd be thrilled if it happened.

That in turn makes me wonder - are there stakes that A777pilot WOULD bet on? A777, feel free to suggest alternative terms.

Can I make a suggestion?

If Obama wins, A777 has to use "Rangers Lead The Way!" as his sig, if Romney Wins you have to use a Marine Corps themed slogan as your sig. He can choose what it would be.

And I would recommend 6 months, not 4 years.

This is started so Don and Cybr can get their bet sorted out. All others are obviously welcome to participate.

Just finishing sorting it out, which is the purpose of this thread. I know you know how to read, so I suggest you start with post 1 when you post in a thread, helps you figure out what is going on and prevents you from posting stupid things like this.

Answer this question and you will understand:

Can some who who is not in a contest win that contest?

Ah, side-stepping the issue. A lot of us predicted that you would weasel out of your bet in this exact way.

Yes by leaving the contest Santorum was in fact admitting that he would not amass enough electoral votes to win, and that by staying in the race despite that, he would lose.

I was in the Air Force, not the Army, and I would have no problem supporting the Marine Corps (even if they think, not without some justification, that Airmen are wimps).

In fairness, while I agree he was the loser based on the spirit of the bet, he made it clear, in his distinctive way, that he was going to weasel out of this at the time the bet was made. I certainly imagine Santorum would agree that he "lost" the nomination race, in any event.

I am a United States Marine. That has been established. I for one, and I know a lot of Marines agree with me, that those in the US Air Force are not wimps. The US Air Force is the greatest air combat organization in world histroy.....bar none!

My father was a fighter pilot (P-40 and P-47) in the Army Air Corps during WWII. I have many friends that were fighter and attack pilots in the Air Force. I have nothing but admiration and respect for them.

Okay, presuming the mods are OK with this thread:

New bet, glenn1 vs. a777pilot; former U.S. Army parachutist (2/5th SFG) vs U.S. Marine.

Wager is on control of U.S. Senate after 2012 elections.

1. GOP control.
2. Democratic control or 50/50 tie.

Here's the Intrade odds.

I'll take either side of the wager. Loser has to post a thread in ATPN supporting the other service in the annual Army-Navy game on Dec 8th.

Now, that actualy sounds like a fun bet.

OK, I'll take the side that says the GOP takes control of the Senate.

p.s., I would hate to cheer for Army when I know that Navy is going to win.

I think Air Force pilots who fly fighter aircraft are analogous to the special forces personnel of the other branches of the military.

They go through the most physically demanding training in the Air Force and have to be very adept at figuring out their position relative to others in 3 dimensional space while undergoing physical effects that most people never experience.

There are individuals in every branch are tough as nails and there are those who are relatively softer.

Fighter and attack pilots tend to be on the tougher and more competent end because that's who the Air Force will trust in the cockpit of a multi-million dollar piece of equipment that when operated at the limits of its performance envelope will require its operator employ extremely physically demanding methods to stay conscious.

When it comes to the vast majority of military personnel there is a wider spectrum toughness.

Just for you that are keep score....

I just recalculated my estimate for the final tally of Electoral College votes for Romney and my 320 is at the lower end of my calculations. MY optimistic vote total was 360 for Romney, BUT, I am sticking with my statement: Romney wins with 320 Eectoral College votes.
