I was just up to formerly Galyans today (Now Dick's)

Lots and lots of stuff, especially stuff with the Galyans name is now 50% off. There were some nice tents, sleeping bags, clothes, and tons of other stuff...

Picked up 2 kayaks as xmas gifts... half off the former sale price... got them for $200 apiece (smoking hot deal for a kayak.)

If you're in the Buffalo or Rochester area (and wherever else there was a Galyans), you might want to check them out.

edit: I was looking for the phone number for the Galyans in Roch. and discovered there are Galyans all over the country. Good luck!

I am sad to see Galyans go as they had a lot more to choose from than Dicks...oh well I hope I find something to buy 😉
 
I was in a shopping center a while back that had a Dick's, a BJ's, and a Siemens (furniture)..... D'ya think that was planned, or just happened?

When did Galyan's become Dicks?! Galyans just opened at Roosevelt Field (Westbury/Garden City, NY) a little over a year ago.....

Galyans.

Apparently Dick's doesn't want to carry Galyans branded merchandise.

Also, just a guess here, but I think because of vendor agreements, they may not be able to carry various products. Regardless of the reasoning, a lot of stuff was 50% off.

 
I just came back from the Galyans/Dicks in Rochester (NY) and the sale is dead. It appartently started 2 weeks ago...figures I didn't hear about it. There was still a good number of Galyans stuff so I hope after the holiday rush there will be another sale.
 
they will PM to a receipt of something you purchased recently if they dropped the price or if you find a coupon.

done it and it worked like a charm. Cashier handled it like a champ! 😀

One of the guys there said something about "our sale ends tomorrow", but the fliers laying around everywhere (in addition to the regular sale items) said that all the things with yellow, blue, or green dots (stickers) on them were on sale for 50% off - and the fliers said until Jan 1.

Bummer if this deal is over 🙁
 
I just called the store in Peoria, IL and they say they know nothing about it having ended and is not ending tomorrow. They have heard it ends on 1/1/05 BUT they are not sure if it even ends then...

According to the following .PDF, this merger/acquisition has been on the table since June 2004. The .PDF also states that the Galyan stores will be converted to Dicks during the first half of 2005.

This is truly a sad day. I have a bunch of Dicks in my area, but preferred the Galyan's format much more.
