Gallery (alternative to PHP-based ?)

I'm sure many of you know about (open source) Gallery "software" but I was wondering if there's anything that is SIMILAR but NOT PHP-based ? Since I'm running on a webhost that may or may not (no response yet to inquiry) support this ... I'd like to check all my options. Thx.

If you're looking for a full featured gallery, especially one that will hold lots of pictures, I don't know of any. My gallery only hosts like 25 pictures and has a auto scroll javascript on the side. I'm pretty sure it only works well on fast connections. link

i use ids, its perl cgi based. I like it, alot. you can see what i use it for on my site (in sig) goto gallery.

Thanks for the replies. What I like about the PHP-based Gallery is the ability to add comments for each pic as well as keep a view-count. IDs does look promising... anything else out there ?

If you host supports PERL I bet they suport php

If you are talking about the same server rj71.com is on, it looks like readyhosting supports PHP.
