First time poster.
I currently have a Galaxy S5 as my work phone which has been awesome. I think most Galaxy phones look similar but so far, over all, this is a really good phone.
Now a larger battery would be a plus since it need to receive emails, and make a lot of calls during the day on the road.
Stumbled upon review of a 8200mah extended battery on youtube last night.
I've never seen anyone used extended battery and a total lack of understanding on it, is the price reasonable? What should be paid attention when using extended batteries?
Thank you in advanced.

Pick a decent brand (zerolemon, etc).
Be aware that any increase in battery capacity comes with an equal increase in battery volume. (those standard sized batteries with high MaH ratings are rubbish and come no where near their stated capacities). A big battery will turn your phone into a brick.
You will lose the water and dust proofing of the S5.

You say that youre on the road, is a car charger an option?

extended batteries are just big batteries. They'll make your phone thicker, heavier, but last longer when you're on the road. They'll generally give you a cheap case to go with it since you won't be able to use the phone's cover with it.

The Zero lemon will double the thickness and weight of your phone easily, but it almost doubled the lifespan of my phone on normal usage. It was a godsend on long trips when I can't readily charge my phone until I get back to the hotel every night.

Why not just get an extra battery and charger kit from Samsung?

They made the battery user replaceable so it seems like something that can be taken advantage of.
When battery gets low turn of the phone swap in the fresh one and turn it back on just a few minutes. Then put the you just took out in the charger that you can hook to a car lighter usb adapter.

This seems better than buying one of those high capacity thick ones.
You might lose NFC depending on which 3rd party battery you buy. If you go OEM you will still have NFC, if that is important to you.

I have an external battery pack for re-charging if needed.

swapper batteries are extra things you need to carry around. If you get an extended you don't have to worry about running out of batteries in the middle of a call or when you're not at a convenient place to change out the extra things you're carrying. Sometimes its more convenient to just carry one big battery for the next 2 days when you're on the road.

Having a larger battery still requires downtime while it charges - you can't walk around with your phone and have peace of mind. An extra battery kept charged on a separate charger is a much better option IMO.

Since you're buying another battery anyway and will have the original as an extra, I'd still just go with a normal-sized one since the larger extended batteries change the shape and weight of your phone.

The downtime is when you are asleep. And unless you need more than 10 hours of screen on time any given day, I think you'll be fine.

16 hours of screen time is no problem with one of the big zero lemons. Also, the thicker case makes the phone easier to hold by the edge, making it less likely to drop out of your hand and dramatically reducing the frequency with which you accidentally touch the screen.
