Hey ! I bought myself a galaxy s4, not new, but it looked and worked perfect since yesterday, when i realised my touch doesn't work properly anymore.

THE PROBLEM EXPLAINED : If i press the power button to unlock the screen, and i swipe QUICK the screen, touch work well TILL i take the finger away of the screen, after that if i try to swipe or anything else, the touchscreen doesn't respond anymore. It only works immediately after i unlock him and i QUICK swipe...

CONSIDER THAT : I never damaged the phone in any way, he was always staying in his case, with protection glass on the screen.
FIRST TIME IT HAPPENED : Yesterday, when i realised that problem, i've been waiting to go to an expert and i suddenly realised the touch screen WORKS again as it should, but obviously after one more hour it came back to that state.
AN EXPERT TOOK A LOOK TO IT : He cleaned every piece of the phone[TWICE], he changed the motherboard and wiped the files and cache - > HE said the touchscreen is the problem.

WHAT DO YOU THINK ? I dont wanna spend money on touchscreen unless i have to, i mean it is still working but not as he is supposed to. I mean, maybe it's a soft problem.

PS : When that happened i was on facebook and the phone freeze and i got to take out the battery and put it back, because i could do nothing else to solve that.

PS2 : I hope it's the right section to post about such problems, i mean i didn't see any better section to post that problem :-??

Who is this 'expert'? Are you sure he knows what he's doing? What did he do to 'clean the phone'? And 'changing the motherboard' doesn't seem like a trivial thing to do. How much did you already pay this 'expert'?

Now, about the touchscreen, did this just happen all of the sudden or have you been flashing custom ROM or firmware or radio or something like that? I've personally messed up my touch sensor a couple of times after flashing an incompatible firmware. Also, did you feel that your phone is really hot to the touch at times? Overheating can cause freezes sometimes, which can be mistaken with non-responsive touch screen.

One thing that should be done (before doing any physical work) is to do a factory reset. Wipe your phone and start over from scratch and see if it still has the same problem. Go ahead and do it now if you haven't.

i've looked at replacement screens for the S4 and it's pretty expensive.
Might be better to pick up another used phone.

First of all that expert is a business friend and he definetely knows what he is doing . Secondly i have never tried to root, flash or modify the phone in any way. Third i already said i tried to wipe all the data and all the cache which means i did that already and i got no result. Fourth my phone doesn't overheat and i know some galaxy s4 got that problem.BY THE WAY ITS i9505. Thanks, it s nice to see someone wanna help.

(Cant multi quote on phone) : About the touchscreen.. it costs me almost the same price as the phone .

Eh. Forget to say that, my phone dont freezes, the buttons works well, everything works well except the touchscreen of course . I personally think it can be solved way cheaper since the touch screen works perfect untill i take the finger away . (Explained in the first post the problem)

It is really frustrating to know my phone is 'done' and i didn't damaged it in any way..

possible the screen was cracked, then "fixed" with a cheap replacement so it looks new. If the phone doesn't work properly as is and you're out of options, might considering rooting and flashing a different rom to see if that can save it.

That would be my guess as well. Someone bought it, made repairs and flipped it. Replacing just the glass lens on these is a sketchy prospect, but people still attempt it. If you replaced the entire digitizer + lcd assembly you might be ok, but you would be on track to spend more than the phone is worth in doing so.

Its also entirely possible that you are unlucky and the digitizer died on its own. Only the person you bought it from knows for sure.

Excluded for sure.

But what is this digitizer properly ? I saw some videos on youtubes how man replaces the digitizer, and the digitizer seem to be properly the touchscreen+display. ALSO in my country all the peoples names the glass digitzer. Im too confused right now. Please explain me what is this and also give me a pic of it.. or an example from any site so i can see the price too. THANKS a lot.

Digitizer is the component that converts your swipes, touches, etc to a signal that the phone understands. I don't do DIY repairs on phones so I don't know whether that means the whole glass + module assembly, but from some quick reading it seems to be the whole set.

There's a lot of cheap repair places that use low quality glass that looks good but doesn't translate the touch actions well, which is what you seem to have. This was a big problem a few years back but I don't know if that's still the case with quality replacement parts being more readily available these days. Here's an article that probably shows the components better than what I can explain:

EH, there it comes WHAT I WAS ASKING FOR, U EVERYONE, PAY ATTENTION NEXT TIME WHEN U WANT TO REPLY OVER A THREAD.

I asked if i have to replace the TOUCH SCREEN or it's a soft problem, or a minor problem, a cheaper one. And some of you was putting the blame on 'expert' and saying ironically that the digitizer is problem. TRUE I COULDN'T FIND A BETTER WORD AND THAT SOUND LIKE SHIT[@expert] but DIGITIZER seem to be the assamble of DISPLAY and TOUCHSCREEN. And that's all what i wanted to know and u just put the blame on the 'expert', that's very nice of you all. Still thanks for answers. THANKS !
