Galaxy S3 text bubble order issue...

I've had this since day 1 of getting my AT&T galaxy S3 and it's kind of annoying. When i'm texting and if someone replies to my text within the same minute, their bubble comes in higher than mine. So for example if my GF texts me, i respond to her, and then she immediately responds back, my last text bubble is still at the bottom of the conversation. I've had this since 4.0 and it hasn't gone away with the 4.1 update.

Has anybody experienced this issue and is there a fix?

You don't have to be a super fast texter to get a message in the same minute. Just someone saying "Yup" or "No" will suffice. I googled it and there's only 1 thread that discusses this exact issue but maybe i'm not searching for the right phrase.

My guess as to what's wrong is that the messaging app only tracks times to the minute and whenever there are two texts within the same minute, the received message gets priority... or something like that.

try a different sms app? handcent and chompsms are both popular. they'll instantly show your entire history since they read from the same database, so it should be easy to see if it's a problem with samsung's stock messaging app.

Samsung SMS app seems to have a few bugs, but there is one that bother me most is, if someone send me a text with pic as attachment, the pic is shown as a slide show (?) and there's no way to zoom it (I have to save the picture in the device to do that). Replaced it with Handcent fixed the problem.

I used to have this bug a while back on my Samsung Epic 4g on Sprint. I was trying to figure out if it was because I was in Arizona, but close to the Nevada border and getting data from Nevada Cell tower, and attributed it to Arizona not doing Day Lights Savings Time.

Anyways turned out it had nothing to do with that.

I don't think I got it fixed until I rooted and installed a custom rom.

It is very annoying. In my case though, it wouldn't just be the same minute.

And later it would group all there messages above all mine, and it made it really difficult to go back and read through a conversation.

Yeah I made handcent my default messaging app and it seems to fix the issue. It's unfortunate that samsung can't even get their messaging app to work properly. The MMS thing that khha pointed out is really annoying too.

Hello, I had the same problem with the default messenger, and however as I tried to look it up nothing helped. As I was examining the bubbles and going through the conversation, I realized that her clock was set a minuet ahead, but when actually mine was a minuet behind . I went to Settings> Date and Time and set it correctly. I mine was a minuet behind but yours seems to be a minuet ahead. I would check it and if it works I would be happy to know.

Hello,

You may have your date and time settings on manual. Go into settings -> date and time -> turn on 'Automatic date and time' which is provided by your network. This will sync your time to world time.
