Why don't they just keep the name the same across the board? Next thing we know, one of them will go about screwing up the phone by adding a keyboard

US carriers strike again. Galaxy S2 will be called AT&T ATTAIN, Verizon FUNCTION, Sprint WITHIN. This stupidity needs to stop. Apple, please save us. I don't think I hate any companies more than the big 4 US cell providers.

Oh yes. Apple...save us! Take us away from this mad, unforgiving earth into a place where we can be more... pure.

I don't quite see why you want Apple to save you from the providers, of which Apple uses 3 (ATT, VZW, TMO). What is Apple going to do?

As a SGS Verizon customer, Fascinate user, I think I can say I find it hilarious that their second go-around will be called Function. I can name several Functions that should have Functioned, but didn't Function on my phone straight out of the box. Thank you Samsung. Not that the GPS issue has ever been a problem for me, I still find it ridiculous that you screw up so badly and then just act like it never happened. That's marketing though, I guess.

Apple save us? By asking us all to cookie-cutter sheep/users? Have no control? This is USA, no commies here!

But seriously, whats the big deal? Its just a name. Stupid names yes, but a name nonetheless.

Apple saved us the first time with their original iPhone. They actually saved the world from cell provider tyranny. Something Nokia and Motorola at height of their success couldn't do. It's clear all the companies are still US cell providers bitch except for Apple. I'm waiting for someone other than Apple to grow some balls.

I'm not sure how it works, do the providers make the mfr's rebrand their cell phones?

This is a thread about the SGS II which looks to be a crazy phone. STFU about the iphone this thread has nothing to do with the iphone.

BTW yes the names are stupid but I could give a crap what it's called... I want one.

Attain function within........sounds so, so, relaxing when you say all three names one after the other. Very Buddhist......ohmmm.

This phone better not come out in September, it needs to come out in June or July if not sooner. I've been due for an upgrade since August '09 :awe: Last phone I bought and activated was outside the contract in spring '10, then insurance picked up the tab on my current phone in July of last year. Windows Mobile 6.5 is killing me.

I want to break my Droid X in half and upgrade to this thing. I can't believe my phone used to be ultra high end in September with its fancy 1ghz proc and 512 mb of RAM, now less than a year later, we're at dual core 1.2 ghz and 1gb of RAM.

ME. WANT. Damn you Verizon, and your 2 year contracts.

And they perform the same. I mean really, other than running benchmarks does anyone even see/feel a big difference?

do you think it will have much better battery life?

i'm upgrading from a dumb phone so i want the latest thing i can get my hands on. for someone who already has a smart phone i can't see any feature being more important than batt life

Judging from the reviews, I would say the battery life is fine.

My Droid X already gets 14+ Hours under heavy use, so anything around that is fine for me.

Read the Skyhook documents: this was substantially Google's fault. Samsung had to rip Skyhook out of all SGS models at the last minute, and it took them months to get their GPS firmware working without it.

Still not sure how Sprint and Verizon models can be the same size/shape as the AT&T. No WiMax/LTE? I could believe the latter but not the former.

Wow those are some lame names, but the S2 looks like a seriously epic phone. And I can get one unlocked for only $900. >_>

Yes, because Apple didn't agree to an exclusive contract with AT&T (Less bars in more places) thereby preventing people from getting the phone on their carrier of choice or anything...

apple is not the only one guilty of this.

where's my HTC EVO on the ATT network?
where's my non-ATT Win7 Phones?
