Better to take that $30 plan and use it for your phone, then just hotspot your wifi (aka cheaper) tablet. Where are you most likely going to use a tablet where you don't have your phone on you?

If I could make calls on the tablet, I wouldn't need to carry a phone at all. That is the draw for me, cutting down to one device.

1280x800=fail. I don't know why they are still releasing new devices with such low resolution. Especially with a slightly larger screen. Also I suspect unless a pen is *very* important to you they are pricing themselves out of the market. At least if they had launched a 900p or 1080p tab they could have made a claim it was 'premium'

You would carry an 8in device around with you everywhere? Not exactly ideal for most people.

I'd rather have seen a larger resolution myself, but 1280x800 isn't a huge deal breaker. If the other specs on the screen are good, it'll look fine.

Pricing is the biggest question with the Note 8. Priced too high, and people will go for the Nexus 7 or the iPad Mini. The Note 8, IMO, needs to be under the price of the Mini, ~300 at most for WiFi model.

Should also be considered that the Nexus 7 will be getting a refresh in May at Google I/O, so that will likely change the entire dynamic. The current N7 completely changed the tablet market.

No, I wouldn't. I would swap the SIM between a more usual sized phone and the tablet depending on the situation. One or the other would be perfect in just about every situation I can imagine.

What would not be ideal would be being forced to carry multiple devices when a single device is enough.

Half the population already carries a purse everywhere they go.

Don't you also know some guys who almost always carry a tablet or laptop with them?

Sounds like you really want the Asus Padfone. :p
