Galaxy Nexus with faulty power button - any way to save it?

The power button on my Galaxy Nexus has been malfunctioning for a while - sometimes you'd have to press it twice to put the screen to sleep, that sorta thing. Now it has finally given out and I can't power the phone on at all. Is there anything I can do?

If you are the do it yourself type it looks like its not too rough of an undertaking, but i haven't ever personally done the job.
