I didnt hear anything about a new nexus phone being announced at the conference today, could this be a sign?

I STILL have never owned a nexus phone, so i might just sell my GS2 and pick this up for the time being either way.

Also, has anyone else heard the rumor about multiple nexus phones being released? Im really hoping this is true, because My current 4.3" phone is about as big as i can go. I wouldnt mind 720p at a little more than 4" as an option, as opposed to where these phones are headed.

I'm toying with the idea of swapping my S2 for a Nexus as well. I really want JB and who knows how long it will take for the S2 to get it.

Rumor has it each major manufacturer is going to have their own Nexus phone this fall (same software but differing hardware/form). I wouldn't expect any of them on Verizon.

Yep, that and the fact that my battery has been awful. People say its because im running a custom rom, but im not so sure. Either way, if i had a nexus, i wouldnt have to mess around with that at all.

I was almost willing to pay 800 when it came out less than a year ago, so this should be a no brainer for me.

how bad can it be. My captivate camera was OK, and this is supposed to be better. I can deal.

not sure if i like the sound of that.. To me it seems like the nexus is starting to lose its appeal as a pure google phone. Will samsungs have TW and HTC's have Sense? God i hope not. If i had verizon, i wouldnt even bother with their nexus.

Any word on google enforcing a stock experience on these?

The Gnex camera had problems with autofocus that resulted in blurry pictures if you moved the camera a fraction of a nanometer after the initial focus. The worst of it was cleared up in 4.0.4, but you still have to hold the thing very steady to get a good picture.
...
It's not an autofocus issue. It's a problem with the stabilizer hardware on the phone. MOST Android phones (especially the GNex and also including the HTC One X) suffer from poor image stabilizing hardware because apparently, manufacturers just can't be arsed to improve them.

In contrast, Apple pays some pretty insane attention to the image stabilizer hardware, and as a result, you get clearer shots with the iPhone 4 and 4S (especially with 4S) whereas in reality, I don't think you can class either of them as having superior lens or sensors compared to the competition.
...
I have the CDMA version and love the phone, but I can't stand the camera. In good outdoor light with little to no movement pictures come out pretty well. Just about anything indoors, in low light, or with the slightest movement and the pictures suck. I've got a 5 year old and an 18 month old and I don't even bother using it to try and take pictures of them.

Better techology was available when this phone was released, there's no reason it shouldn't have been given a better camera.

I've actually been pretty happy with the batter life on my S2 running task650's AOKP with the NEAK kernel.

I honestly dont know what my problem is. Im running the latest AOKP with the stock kernel. Ive tried to look into it, but the only help i get from any idiot is "your running bad apps" "quit using custom roms" "this is what happens when you want to change what the Manufaturer intended"

I have cpuspy and betterbatterystats installed. I always do a clean flash. I stopped using Tib. etc etc etc. I dont even use apps. I basically use my phone like a glorified blackberry.

The only thing that i think might be the problem is the google voice app. Its as slow as shit, and is the only app that I would have installed and use that maybe others dont?

I dont even see the point of apps like cpuspy and bbs if the data it spits out just leads to people making assumpitions without looking at the data. Can anyone understand it?

Im hoping using a nexus will solve my problems because I really dont want to jump ship on android. Ill have to make a decision when the new nexus phones and ip5 comes out. Hopefully this will help me out.

Obviously no they wouldn't (or they wouldn't be a part of the Nexus program), they'd be pure Google devices, the only difference would be the physical form/look.

Nice to see the $50 drop. I've been waiting to pick one up. Still using my captivate which is getting a little sluggish. i figure I'll use this for a year or so and then if the price and specs of the new nexus device(s) are worth it I'll upgrade then.

The verizon Gnex is technically a nexus.

Yes, and after it launched Google later decided that CDMA is not a part of the AOSP. So technically, it is a Nexus, but it also isn't because Verizon just couldn't help but interfere with the straight from Google plan. I think that's why we won't be seeing any more Nexus phones on Verizon.

Try the Neak kernel, it seems to give me better battery life in general and it has an app you can use to tweak things for ever better battery life.

The Verizon Nexus doesn't come with a "skin," the only thing they added was two Verizon apps. Which is still two too many for a Nexus device, but still.

Oh well it's not hard to install a custom rom and ditch all the carrier crapware anyway.
