Yes this is a crappy gaming card. About 90% of the speed of a 9600gt. The advantages is it is

The Goods
  • It is cheap
  • It doesn't uses a lot of power on load and idles with the best of video cards
  • HDMI, that supports 7.1 audio and some light post processings

The Uglies
  • Full slot so no slimline cases
  • It appears this model's heatsink may block the card underneath so effectively a dual slot card

Anandtech did some testing a while back the same time he tested the gt640. Link is here

that GT440 has GDDR3 which defeats the main reason of getting a GT440. its still a good card for 30 bucks but its basically a GT430 with slightly higher clock speed.

What are some of the best cards to get for the price range? I'm using a Radeon HD 2400XT that came with my computer a while back. I'd like to be able to play newer games though for the cheap upgrade price. Currently, I play games like Bastion, Limbo, Bionic Commando, Fallout 3....etc

I use an xbox 360 controller and have a q6600 with 4 gigs of ram, MSI mobo and has something to do with nforce....Any other cards guys?
Thanks and didn't mean to side track

EDIT - Computer is a Gateway GT 5678

@BustaBust

A 6670 with DDR5 for $50 would probably be the best card you could get *new* in this price range. They're actually pretty solid cards for the power usage and price. Of course, a 7750 would be better, but also another $30 or so (on sale).

Thanks for the recommendations. I will go investigate a cheap alternative to the one I have.
