Hi all,

Does anyone have any experience with Galaxy as a graphics card brand? Are their products reliable? I'm looking for a 4GB GTX 680 card and this one caught my eye.

The reason I am interested in 4GB is for future proofing and the possibility of multiple monitor gaming down the road. I know that most (if not all) current games when run on a single monitor will not require 4GB, but I don't want to upgrade my card for at least a couple of years.

Here's a link to the card:

I've looked at cards from Asus, MSI, Galaxy, Gigabyte, PNY, EVGA, Zotac, ECS, Sparkle, and Sapphire. Though I think Sapphire only produces cards based on AMD chips. As I missing any brands?

I've been comparing the clock speeds of all the 4GB cards and this Galaxy card is tied with the EVGA Classified for the highest speeds with a base clock of 1110 Mhz and a boost clock of 1176 Mhz. There are 2GB cards with higher speeds, but I am looking at 4GB only. I've heard good things about EVGA, but the Galaxy card is $100 less expensive ($489 at Tiger Direct currently).

So does anyone have experience with this Galaxy card, or Galaxy as a brand? Any suggestions for cards I may have overlooked? As stated previously, I do plan on getting a 4GB card.

Thank you!

They are the U.S. version of KFA and yes they're reputable. That particular cooler is an open air cooler and is more effective than reference coolers so long as your case has adequate air flow.

The card can't max out games even today, leave alone a couple of years. The intensive games will be running at 1080p med or so sometime in 2014. And by 2015 the most intensive games will end up running at 720p low or so.

I've used galaxy cards before and they're pretty good. As far as future proofing for 2 years, not sure, but you should be okay. It's not a bad choice. I personally think the EVGA classified is a ripoff for what you get, so i'd probably choose the GC over that as well.

Future proofing is overblown. Buy the best card you can afford at the time. The card you mention appears to be a strong video card. What are the rest of your specs?

The only reason to get a 4gb card is if you are going to run higher than 1080p. If not don't waste your money.

Exactly. By the time avg games need that much vram at 1080p without aa, even a titan would be slow as he'll by then
