The GT 430 has slightly slower memory clock but the GT 240 has slightly slower core/shader clocks. Both have 96 CUDA cores. I think it is almost a wash. I'd give the GT 430 the edge in lower resolutions, but at higher resolutions in current games both will be too slow. $20 AR is pretty nice though. Can't get anything at that price unless it is a hot deal.

I have a couple GT 240s. These make fine cards, very low idle power and better performance than the price indicates.

However, the stock cooling is utterly useless and not suitable for 24/7.

Anyone know how this card compares to a 8800gt?

It was very roughly comparable to my 7800 GTX. The 7800 GTX would be faster for general purpose but the gt 240 could match or beat it with games that used advanced shaders.

Pretty sure 240s are about on par with a 9600GT.

I have one in my "HTPC" of sorts, nice little card.

Edit: Just noticed, this is the DDR3 version of the 240, not the GDDR5 version. The GDDR5 version sees a varying performance advantage in most scenarios, actually getting fairly large in the certain titles.

Still, it's only $20 for what amounts to a capable budget card.

Be sure to read the feedback tab before buying -- customers complain about a loud fan, poor support from Galaxy and problems getting the rebate.
