I talked to 2 different people over the phone with this model, and both reported the same strange email behavior: Deleted messages keep coming back.
Removing the account and re-adding it seemed to resolve the issue for one of them, but not for the other.
About a year earlier, I spoke with a husband and wife that each had a Samsung phone. Their email would suddenly stop showing new messages, but there was no error message at all. Removing and re-adding the account would resolve it for a day or so, but the problem kept coming back. I discovered somehow that the device itself doesn't really fetch email (saves storage/bandwidth/battery). Email was actually fetched by some remote cloud system operated by Samsung in much the same way that Blackberry fetches email messages on behalf of mobile devices). It might *seem* that the device itself stores POP/IMAP/SMTP settings, it's not fetching the messages directly.
I suspect that's what's happening here, but I don't know how to confirm if that is the case (since I don't have one of these phones with me).
