you might have a defective board, you might have to manually raise the clock speed, I had to do this on a motherboard once, but I came to find out that the memory was defective, I have also had this problem with a CPU before
I recently upgraded to the GA-K8NS PRO + AMD64 3000+ (venice core) with 2x 512mb DDR400, before I upgraded to bios F13 it would only recongise them as ddr333, but as soon as I upgraded the bios it now works as ddr400, only problem I have encountered is I can only use 2T timings not 1T....but everything else is fine and runs very stable
well to update ...i just installed F13 bios on my GIGABYTE K8NS PRO from F6 and the best i can set memory is 183Mhz, ahh well at least its better than 166Mhz previously.
well you have better quality memory than I am using, I have Seitec DDR400, which is pretty generic, SPD timings are 8,4,4,3@400mhz, however and this is a very BIG however, I have found this memory to be much better than some of the more expensive stuff and I currently have it running at 6,2,2,2.5@400mhz with 100% stability, at 450mhz I can use 6,3,3,2.5 with out any instability.
check your memory timings, maybe you might have to relax them a bit to reach 400mhz.
I haven't used kinston in awhile so I'm not sure of the quality of late, but they used to be pretty good.
