IMO, 25% is very unlikely. Unless they're talking about one specific program, I don't think we'll see that much of a performance boost.

The extra 64MB won't effect so much now and for a while. Currently, in order for more texture memory to be put in use, you would need higher pixel sizes, more resolution etc. Right now, the minimum memory size for just about all games is 16MB. 32MB is enough to run all games at high resolution.

Actually, there are some games/apps that use all that memory. Take 3dmark2001 for example - i have a 64mb card (GF3 ti200) and I cannot run at 1600x1200x32. if anyone can on a 64mb card, LMK :)

Great...only they should have done it to the Ti500 instead.

Also I doubt it'll be 25% faster unless you're constantly in situations with heavy texture swapping. I'd say 10%-15% across the board is more realistic.

Frankly I'm inclined to say it's damn near a waste.

For many games, 16MB is still enough. There are few games that truly need more then 32MB.
Even at 1600x1200x32bpp most games don't see much of a gain from going to 32MB to 64MB of graphics memory, albeit there are a few select gaming applications that do see gains of a much as 10-15% under the right conditions.

I find it extremely unlikely that more then a very small select handful of gains will see much of a benefit at all, unless your the type to be using FSAA at 1600x1200x32bpp... in which case I can well believe that 128MB of RAM would yield you a decent boost.

<< Gainward already markets a Ti 200 chip under the Ti/500 label, so the naming is consistent to them. >>

Am I the only one that's bothered by this?
It strikes me as mis-leading marketing in the same vein as ATi's OEM/Retail clockseepds varying.
