There are a few places starting to offer the Gainward ti4200 128 meg version for order or preorder (eta-5/8). Looks like the golden sample is starting around $219. None however have any info on what is included or what the card looks like. Anyone seen any pics of the card or know what all is included in the box. This is the card I am planning on getting eventually (have to wait till August dang it!!!!!), and while I can wait a while for samples to arise, I always like to know what is included as soon as possible.

Yea, it looks like Newegg did remove it from their site. I swear it was there yesterday. I actually had the card in my cart and was filling out the billing information when I decided to wait and read some more reviews of the other cards that will be coming out soon. I cancelled my order, and now this card has disappeared from Newegg's website....:(. I'm sure, though, that we'll start seeing more Ti4200's in the next few weeks. I just felt it's wiser for me to wait and buy after reading more reviews than to jump on the very first card to hit the market (at least for a few hours - why does Newegg screw with the public like that????).

You can view the card at the Gainward website, I'm not clear though about the differences between the two Gainward 4200 cards being offerred.

THere is a pretty good review of the 4200 at Toms Hardware.

I *think* that one of the cards on the Gainward site is the 64MB version, although it is confusing. They call one XP and one TV, but the only difference I see is the first sentence in the description where one mentions 128MB and one mentions 64MB.

Regardless, I haven't been able to find anywhere to order a 64MB Gainward or VisionTek Ti4200, and I'm actively looking for one.

It looks like the smart thing to do is wait. From that game.pc site review:

<< Sitting underneath the cooler is an A2 stepping of the GeForce4 Ti GPU, compared to the A3 stepping of the GPU we saw on the nVidia reference Ti4200. We suspect that once the Gainward cards really hit the market, A3 GPU's will be included. The A3 GPU is the latest stepping of the NV25 GPU, and while it has the exact same performance at stock clock speeds, many have reported that A3 stepping GPU's can overclock 10-15 MHz higher compared to A2 and above. >>

<< Gainward is known for their overclocking abilities, which is most likely the reason they decided to equip this board with 128MB of 4.0ns Samsung TSOP DDR SDRAM. While the official shipping memory speed for 128MB Ti4200 cards are 444 MHz (222 MHz DDR), the included Samsung DDR modules are rated for speeds up to 500 MHz (250 MHz DDR), allowing quite a lot of leeway between the shipping clock speed and what the modules are capable of running at. Add in the fact that Samsung is usually quite conservative with their memory labeling, as their DDR modules can usually clock much higher than what they are rated for. In short, 4.0ns modules are going to allow for a lot of overclocking fun. >>

Seems the ones comming out later will have alot higher overclocking ability. They overclocked this thing greater than a stock ti4600. I think this is definantley the card to get though, comes with good ram and the Philips 7108E MPEG processor chip so you can do some great VIVO stuff.

I can't wait !!!!!!!

Yes, I ordered mine today from atacom.com. They say it's in stock.
3 day UPS delivery/19 bucks.
I was planning on getting the 4600, but that review from gamepc convinced me otherwise.

I am thinking of one of these cards for my second game machine. Those who are ordering them how much are you paying for it. I got my 4400 for 279 here locally. Im wondering if it is worth the savings. Definately a cool looking card tho...

The Gainward Ti4200 golden sample is $219 at atacom, plus shipping, no tax. There is also a non-golden sample version there for 209.00. The golden sample is gainward's best for overclocking, and is what makes the Ti4200 worthwhile for me. Get 4600 results for Ti4200 price. I'm sure there will be some $199 versions out any day as well.

The ones mentioned at Newegg were in stock for a while. I got one before they sold out and already got a shipping notice on it yesterday. The description confirmed it was 128mb and a 'golden sample'. Hopefully newegg will get some more in for everyone else soon. They were 199 + $8 shipping.

Newegg has the description of this card back up on its website, however it's still currently out of stock. The ETA, however, is for tomorrow (5/9/02) and the price has gone up to $214 + $8 shipping. I'm an idiot for cancelling my order when it was $199. Oh well, I'm sure waiting a few more weeks for more cards to hit the shelf and more reviews to read to see which one is the best will be worth it in the long run.

According to the FedEx tracking number from Newegg, my Ti4200 was just delivered to my home. I don't know if I can restrain myself from bolting away from work early. :)
