yeh anyone know if this will go into the 8X Dell PCIE slot though? Dell has physically removed the remaining pipes for 16X in the 420 board.... but the card technically should still run.

PCIe is scalable and a 16X card could even run 2X if need be. Just put tape over your card's contacts and that will change the voltage.

...but has anyone had luck with 420 mods. This is probably isnt the place- but maybe some1 would check it out with this card ::I may have to do it::
 
Not hot at all. You can get an Nvidia 6600 PCI-E for the same price from Newegg. The 6600 will absolutely blow away the 5900 in any benchmark. And it has excellent DX9 capabilties and strong pixel shaders unlike the 5900.
