okay, you see the thread title.

anyone know anything about this?

a few links:

Gainward's info page

says 7.36 GB/s, that would indicate the regular 230 MHz DDr, not 4ns DDr (250 MHz)

anyone know if this stuff actually has 250 MHz DDr?

if you guys remember properly, Gainward is the company that released the "GTS/400" several months before the GTS Pro was made available. They made quite a stir with reviewage on Toms' Hardware site back in the day.

anyone have any ideas?

A bit of a heads up on this. The reason why nVidia was really p!ssed off about that test over at Tom's was because the board Tom got was the only one with 5ns DDR RAM. The retail boards they shipped out clearly mentioned Tom's reviews and his comments, and shipped with the same old 6ns DDR RAM(which nVidia knew because Gainward bought the RAM from nVidia, hence nV's issues with the review).

Without looking into this I would doubt it, no matter what they said. I would need to talk to someone who had bought the board and seen the 4ns RAM on it from a retail package before I trusted it. They tricked a lot of people who then got pretty POd(rightly so) when they saw the review, saw the retail package that stated it was the same board, and then realized they had been screwed.
