Gainward GeForce4 PowerPack ! Pro/650XP Golden Sample (MX 460)...How good is it?

I am thinking to get this card. Can someone give me comment on this card?

I don't play games too much. I just like the features that it has on it.

so please give me suggestion as how good it is on the DVD wise and the 2d quality wise.

I will still also consider the gaming though even though not too much.

but you would be better of the the Ti4200 than the MX460.

if the card name says 'pro' its a mx if its 'ultra' its a full gef4. article here

Supposedly the GF4 MX's are good for DVD cause they are hardware assisted, different than the GF4 Ti's. I would think that this would be a good card for your light gaming and dvd needs. The 2d is a different story, but supposedly the Gainward has good 2d cause of better filters and the GF4's have had pretty decent 2d overall.

so what do you guys think then? Is it worth it to get the MX one over the Ti one? I can get this one for $140 and the Ti for $200

it's like $60 different...

look at benchmarks... if u are hardcore in gaming get the Pro one, if ur not get the Ultra.... Pro is the Ti4200, Ultra is the MX one.. dont get em mixed up or u'll get ripped off

As long as you have a decent CPU (600mhz+) then I dont think you will be disapointed by the geforce 4 ti's DVD performance, and the speed in dx8.0 games will more than make up for it. The mx460 is a good card for the half-life / unrealtournament dirextx7 based games.

look at benchmarks... if u are hardcore in gaming get the Pro one, if ur not get the Ultra.... Pro is the Ti4200, Ultra is the MX one.. dont get em mixed up or u'll get ripped off

its the other way round, the ultra card are the geforce 4ti4200/4400/4600 range, the pro are the mx 420/440/460.

So are you saying that GeForce 4 Ti 4200 support the DirectX 8 games and MX 460 only support DirectX 7 games?


I am not familiar with games and like I said don't play games too much. However, I want to keep what I want to buy for quiet some time so I need to make sure I get the right one.

Both support the will support direct 8.0+ games but the geforce 4 ti4200 will be able to do the 'effects' in hardware. The mx will not suport all of the features of directx 8 games and will have to use software to emulate them, this has its obvious speed penalties.

How about eVGA GeForce 4 Ti 4200? How good is it compare to Gainward GeForce 4 Ti 4200?

Both have the same features but eVga one is cheaper.

How much different ? and what version of gainward, if its the golden sample go with that as its got a guaranteed overclocked setting.

ya Gainward 's golden sample 4200 is good because of the overclocking and still under warranty option... definately go with that.

Just get the cheaper 4200 card. Aside from extra features, they are all basically the same. If you decided you want to overclock, you probably will be able to.
