GAINWARD/CARDEXPERT GeForce 4 Ti 4200, 4ns, 128MB DDR, Power Pack Golden Sample $199 @ Newegg

GAINWARD/CARDEXPERT GeForce 4 Ti 4200, 4ns, 128MB DDR, Power Pack Golden Sample, 1 DVI + 1 CRT + TV out+ VIVO + nVIEW (two CRT display), overclocking enhanced mode, DVD player and video editing software with game. Retail. Model#: GF4TI4200Ultra/650XP.

$199.00 - this seems pretty hot as I recall this card being $215 @ Newegg recently.

Gainward Line-up - it's towards the very bottom of the page.

does anybody know the deal with the 128 gf4ti4200se that walmart is selling for $199? what kind of memory does it have? i can't find it for the life of me on the manufacturer's site 😀 tia!

This deal is warm. It is definitely a good card for the price. However, there are better cards (search for the xtasy 4200 in this forum) that are OOS for slightly cheaper.

That said, I just ordered this exact card from Monarch Computer in DECATUR GA (so says Fedex) at the $199 price to avoid paying 8.25% tax here in good ol' CA. Just an FYI for CA residents, especially for SF/East Bay folks.

It is the visiontek ti4200 128meg card, my local Walmart has this card for $198. There is a write up about this card currently at firingsquad.com. Their test card had 4ns samsung memory chips on it. Also, Walmart only has selected products listed on their website, you ussually have to go to the store for a bigger selection of stuff. I have never seen that much computer stuff listed on their website compared to what they had in stock at the store.

How is the visiontek a better card? does it have all the features that the gainward does? Also, at $198 at wal-mart, isn't $199 shipped free a better price? unless you are in cali and get charged tax for newegg.

wasn't this suppose to be the retail price of this card anyway.. i remember ppl complaining that it shouldn't be the 220+ newegg had initially charged ppl....

no opinion about if the above is hot or not --- that's for individuals themselves to determine
reason i asked about the 128 i saw @ walmart is it's walmart...

This is the DVI and VIVO card, right? It dropped from $211, too. I definately want this card.

Re: Better card: I was thinking for overclockability and warranty... in terms of features, I think the Gainward has a leg up on the Visiontek. The Visiontek performed very well in OC tests, but then as always that is very dependent on the card. It also has a lifetime warranty. However it does not have Video In functionality. So I guess it's a toss up, depending on what you want to do with the card. The Gainward of course has this "Golden Sample" overclock warranty, meaning you can OC it to certain set limits before the warranty is void (although, my question would be, how would they know what you OCed it to in the first place). However, I am sure the Gainward will OC to at least Ti4000 levels, if not higher.

mr. mellondust, is this the review you mentioned? the one @ wal-mart is in a gold box instead of blue, and has the letters SE on the end of the 4200 description... would like more info, tia

Yup, this card is fully loaded. DVI, VIVO. It's also a great card for overclocking since Gainward covers some overclocking under warranty. There's a bunch of articles around the web where people are getting this puppy up to Ti 4600 speeds no problem.

Remember this is a Golden Sample. So you can't compare it to the other cards since this should OC better.

I got my Golden GF3 up to 235/530.

It doesn't come with a vga-dvi adapter, fyi. Still debating... yes.. no.. i can't decide!

edit: YES! I'll report back on this card...

noticed that the 4200SE @ wal-mart doesn't have DVI 🙁
knew it had to be some reason why they had it for -$199
o well...

Does anyone know how loud the fan is on this card?

My current system is all stocked with quiet Panaflo fans (on the cpu, on the case, in the psu, etc).
I currently have a VisionTek GeForce3 Ti200 and the fan on that is small and very quiet.

I understand the GeForce4 GPUs require more cooling, so I assume the fans on GeForce4s in general are a bit louder than average GeForce3 GPUs. But again, back to my question, anyone have any idea how loud the fan is on this one or can recommend a GeForce4 Ti4200 128MB with a quiet fan? (I have no intentions to overclock it)
