Gainward 6800gt molex connectors

Hi All

I have a query for which i would like to get a confirmed answer. i have mailed Gainward support, but have gotten 2 different/contradictory answers, but have gotten no reply since i queried their responses based on the response received by the other (Germany and Sweden tech support i think).

My query is this; the card needs extra power to function. Once i plug the one end of the power cable into the card, two molex connectors are still available; do both of these need to be plugged in to receive proper power for the card??Germany tech support said only one needs to be connected, the other gainward tech support said both need to be connected.
anybody out there know for sure??
I do not overclock anything and i do not plan to overclock in future, if this might relate to power needed..,

thanks....,

Not plugging in both as i am running out of power connectors; have a couple of fans connected, which i would like to keep connected...,

I know this for a FACT. You only need to plug in the one molex plug into the video card. The other 2 molex plugs can be left unused. Leaving them unused would be ideal but if you NEED those two extra molex plugs then you CAN use them. The reason you would want to only have the video card on that chain of molex plugs is so that the video card wouldn't be competing as much for power with other devices (this could be important if overclocking). Now if you had an "el cheapo" power supply then all that probably wouldn't even matter....

But to simply answer your question: You can leave the 2 other molex unplugged, or plug them in to other devices. Its up to you.

::edit:: This is assuming that your video card only has one power (molex) connector on it. I haven't come across a card with more than one....
