Gainward 6800 GT for $429...

How much better are they than EVGA, BFG, and PNY? I've spotted a price for one @ 429 w/fed ex 2nd day shipping.... Funny how when i was consdering upgrading I planned on spending no more that $300 for a new card, now I'm willing to spend $429 damn this card to hell! Any thoughts comments anything will do....lol

Gainward makes some very solid cards, but I wouldnt buy any 6800GT for more than $350...

Is Gainward the one that puts the huge copper cooler with 2 fans on the card? If so, and you're planning to overclock, then they'd probably be better than other companies, since it'd likely OC a little better due to the nice cooling.

Oh, and what comes bundled with the card?

The price isn't so much a concern as is the availability of these cards. I assume people like me who have purchased them were just happy to find them at a decent price. I wasn't looking to save a bunch, I just wanted the card. Seeing that prices are probably not going to go down for awhile since demand is still outpacing production, why not just get one now? You'll be able to use it for a few months now instead of waiting to get it just to save $50. That's just MHO, though.

Can I ask how you ended up with a Radeon 9200 in that great machine in the first place?

Ive got an old PC downstairs (AMD T-Bird 1200) with a ATI 8500 in it thats faster than that card and its 2-3 yrs old


Edit: Gainwards are nice but typcially overpriced compared to others. You pay for the name

Long story...but the short story is they gave it to me....Just now I've realized I need to spend some money on my video card since Doom 3 will be out soon...
But the card is not even worth $60 IMHO
