 A bit more info would help us. I'll guess you are referring to manus of GF4TI cards, as such I would say Gainward by a whisker (well reknowned for excellent image and build quality) but to be honest there is little diff in manu for GF4TI cards. How well a card will o/c is almost entirely based upon the ns rating of the RAM. 4.0ns should reach about 550mhz while 3.6ns should reach 620mhz. Don't go thinking a 4200-64MB card is a better buy than a 4200-128MB card though, the 4200-128MB will kick its ass even if the 4200-64MB achieves a higher o/c, there is no substitution for the lack of gfx RAM.

I would go with the Gainward card. Gainward's well-known. eVGA's a local company here in So. Cal. I checked their message boards and it seems that they are having problems with their 128 4200 cards.

I still have my Gainward GeForce2 Pro Golden Sample on my P3 1GHz rig; runs great.

I could've opted for another Gainward (GeForce4), but I found a PNY GeForce4 Ti4400 for $199. Couldn't pass that up; that was 3 mos ago.

Hmm ok then the EVGA has more output but if they are having problems then forget it. Is newegg.com a good site to buy from?

Newegg's great. I've heard good things from them. That's where I purchased the GeForce2 Pro Golden Sample a year ago.

Unfortunately, that's the only business I've done with them as I deal with Mwave which is literally a couple of miles away from Newegg. (Mwave) does Will Call whereas Newegg does not.

Both are good vendors.

I'm having problems with Mwave unfortunately w/c is a first. They charged my atm card twice for a purchase so instead of 309, they charged me 618. I have to contact my bank and Mwave tomorrow about this. I usually use cash, but for once I decided to use my atm. I'll definitely bring cash next time (as I always do) when I make a purcase at Mwave.

Another thread about your current gfx card GF4MX420

QUOTE Me:

"Wow, what a difference ...

3Dmark2001SE in standard 1024x768x32 (CPU & gfx card: total marks, games1-4 high detail FPS):

P4 2.53ghz & GF4MX420: 4000, 36, 35, 38, na (can't run Game4 as lacks DX8 hw funcs)
Duron1ghz & GF4TI4200: 7500, 32, 81, 44, 42
P4 1.6ghz & GF4TI4200: 9000, 41, 91, 58, 50

Even a Duron1ghz with Rad7500 can beat a P4 2.53ghz with GF4MX420: 4100, 24, 36, 31, na"

HTH ;)

I was about to ask the same question since these 2 cards seem to be the lowest priced ones on pricewatch. Another bump for a satisfied newegg customer.
