If I recall correctly, you would want to look in either the GAIM program directory, or your "documents and settings\yourusername\application data" folder for GAIM user-specific data.

Can I import or export my buddy list?
Sorry, no. Old versions of Gaim supported this, but new versions do not. All the code for saving and loading buddy lists was rewritten, and support for importing and exporting buddy lists was never re-added. However, with all major protocols storing their buddy lists on the server, this feature is less useful today than in the past.

Importing and exporting isn't necessarily the same thing. Backing up your user data lets you just pick up where you left off, easier. It keeps your customizations, like the display names for your contacts.

I just checked, and the folder that I would want to backup & restore is at "c:\documents and settings\myusername\application data\.gaim". There's an xml file in there that contains what you need, but I'd just grab the entire directory.
