alright so i was hired to work a day camp for two weeks, since i was gonna miss most of the summer. i was the only employee hired for less than the full summer. i also got a really good cooking job at a local restaurant, so i was psyched about that. i would much rather cook than do the day camp stuff, but for two weeks, it's an easy 500 bucks, so i'm game. anyways, i tried to negotiate higher pay (i had my reasons), but the lady shut me down. so i told her i'd let her know asap about working. about 3 days before staff orientation started, i emailed her. she said she wasnt expecting me to work, as i slacked off and never let her know.

i replied, saying that i apologized immensely, but i would be 100% committed to working there. That was last night. I called the office and told them that I sent an email to the director. i called them again this morning, and the secretary said that she'd have the director call me as soon as she got in. the orientation started at 3 o'clock today. i NEVER recieved a freaking phone call. i checked my email at 4:00 (training was 3-6) and guess what?

i had a reply from the director.

"guapo337, if you are 100% committed to working those two weeks, that's fine me. i expect to see you at training today at 3"

yeah well guess-fvcking-what? i didnt get it til an hour into the training! there was no car at my house! and the location of training wasnt within walking distance! plus, they never freaking called me.

training starts up again tomorrow at 8:30 tomorrow morning. i have no idea whether i should go or not. gahh.

I would go. Whats the worst that can happen? Bring the email and show her it didnt arrive until after the orientation started.

sounds like you blew it.

if you missed orientation, you better talk with the director before showing up at the camp.

thanks for the uh.. encouragement..

SHow up. Better late than never. If you ARE committed to working for the camp, I'm sure the director would forgive you. If not, well, you're a fvckup. I tach kids myself, and I can't stand teachers who aren't interested in teaching but is only there for the money . . ..

Anyhoo, good luck.

Show up, but if she sent it beforehand, and you didn't read it till after, you really have no excuse. You apparantly don't want it that bad.

Expecting someone to get an e-mail message as confirmation is not reasonable, especially if the message was sent to a home e-mail address and the person is out working or something similar. In-office e-mail, yes, that is acceptable as notification of something important, but outside the office it's just laziness. The guy has a secretary, he could have had her call.

WHAAAT? if she sent an email to my home email address a certain time (approximately 1hr and 10m before training started) i should NOT be expected to recieve that, considering i have emailed her, at her presumably home address (hotmail), and i havent recieved replies for a day or two..

i am committed.

You don't sound like a particularly responsible employee. I will recommend that you be fired immediately from any/all jobs you currently or futurely hold.
