I just got a call from my girlfriend. She said that ants infested her car and were crawling all over the inside of it. Anyone else ever heard of such a thing? Geeeeeez.

People probably ate food in the car, and let crumbs drop. Or, somebody spilled juice on teh carpet and didnt clean it up.
 
call Syringer to take care of it, he is the master of arthropods

btw, could Scarpozzi, be the next Syringer, cept with ants?

I never saw the original thread about Syringer...just heard the aftermath. They weren't my ants either. I usually spray a lethal dose of Ortho around my perimeter to ensure a pest-free lifestyle.
 
something sweet was left exposed. those suckers will smell that stuff a mile away and gather their buddies.

I left some pastry in a box on the floor in my house since it was just going to go out again the next day. thinking since it's in a box, it's ok. well the next day I pull up the bag with the box and underneath are dozens and dozens of small brown ants... on the inside and out. I open the box and more of the same. It's not like they could transport the goods... they were probably just nibbling at it or something. I didn't see any trail leading back out either. Maybe they were just in the planning stages. *shrug*

I called on my best friend Raid and he took care of them for me. Then I ate the pastries.
j/k about that last part.
 
it's kinda nasty to be done in a car... but ants wont cross baking soda

something sweet was spilled / dropped and not cleaned up... clean car interior really well including the carpet and seats



and yes, i have heard of it before but never experienced

They won't cross baking soda? I never heard that. I usually go out and buy the cheapest ant killer I can find... If you buy the cheap stuff, they probably haven't been investigated as much as RAID and others have...so you can get extra-toxic poison. 😀 I like watching their little nervous systems malfunction when you spray em. 😛

bah ants die too quick... almost on contact... especially the small ones. Are you talking the big black ones ? I like watching spiders squirm after RAID gets them. Sorry but you're in my house.

How large was said pastry? None of the ants were wearing hard hats, were they? Did you see any matchbox car sized construction equipment there?
 
^ i think the architects were still doing the planning. I didn't see any inspectors though... who knows what kinda job they would've done. Said pastry was actually quite plentiful... like I said... a box... and it was full. The ants could've had a field day... but again, my buddy came to my rescue.
 
I can verify that baking soda is very effective against ants. I've had to use it twice in my house, and it worked within a day both times.
 
Step by step method of dealing with the problem:

1) Buy anteater
2) Put anteater in car
3) Wait week while anteater kills all ants.
4) Buy lion
5) Put lion in car
6) Wait a couple of days while the lion eats the anteater.
7) Politely ask the lion to leave.

or, of you want to take the easy way out, just set off a bug bomb.
 
I've had ants infest the inside of my car once. I was on vacation staying at a friend's house. My car was parked in her backyard on the grass for about 3 days without touching it. I get in the car to leave, ants everywhere. :| No food in the car at all - I keep my car extra clean. I also had ants infest the outside of my car a few weeks ago. I parked under a tree and one of its branches was resting on top of my car. They walked off the branch and swarmed onto my car overnight. Thankfully, none of them had made it into the car. I HATE ANTS!!!!!!
 
When I clicked on the thread I thought it might be about the 'Brak Show' episode last night. That was a good one. I liked the ATHF even moe though, that was some pretty funny shiite.

So...I'm curious if this works on Jehovah's Witnesses, for example? Erecting a gallows on the front lawn tends to drive down the property value. :evil:
 
My wife left an open, half used can of sprite in her car once when we lived in an apartment. She left it there two days.

Her car was infested. Had to take it to a detailer to get it clean again.
 
I get those little brown ants in my dorm a lot... they clamber all over everything, I don't even understand why. They always find ways to drown themselves in my cups of water, or empty clean cups even. They love my computer tower, always crawling around on the backside. They also like to crawl onto the edges of my clean dry sink, around shelves that store paper napkins and laundry detergents/bleach, and on my writing desk as well. I have no idea why, and it's so bothersome seeing them crawling around... unsanitary! I even used those ant traps, which worked for maybe like one week before the ants just started ignoring them altogether. I have no idea how I should get rid of them...
