Gah...WTH?

MX2

Lifer
I can get all the way through XP copying the files to the HD(WD800JD), but when it comes to the first reboot, it just loops back to the start of install again instead of going to the hard drive for the rest of XP install. You know you are suppose to get the "Hit any key to boot from CD" after the first reboot, but I am not getting that:|

Ideas?

Abit KV-80 is the mobo. No floppy drive available

The Windows XP CD checks for a bootable harddrive, and if it doesn't find one, it skips the "hit any key to boot from CD" message and goes straight into setup.

Anyways, I'm not sure exactly what to do to fix the issue, though if you go into the bios & remove the cdrom from the boot order & also disable any option like "boot from other device". Then you can guarantee the system will never boot to the cd and you can easily troubleshoot the bios settings to get the hard drive to boot.

Went into bios and removed cdrom from boot order and disabled "boot other device." Still same thing🙁 I didnt think I would need to install sata drivers if it was starting to copy files, but maybe I still need to?

Wes Digi Lifeguard tools via Ultimate Boot CD isnt showing the drive, but the Wes Digi Diagnostic sees it.

"Hitting F6" only allows the loading of sata drivers into Windows. This sounds like the BIOS is not finding the hard drive to boot from. On some motherboards to boot from SATA drives you need to add SCSI to the boot order.
