I needed $20 cash to buy some food yesterday, so I ran down to the bank and withdrew some money . . . only thing was that I drew it from my savings account (instead of checking) and I had already met my limit on withdrawals for january (and it was the LAST DAY of the month too!)

got slapped with $70 fine from wells fargo . . . :(

that's one expensive lunch

..you have a limit on withdrawals?

Find another bank..

Edit: I'm assuming that my bank doesn't have a limit..then again, I probably don't have enough money to reach it anyway. :p

its not a monetary limit, im only allowed 3 withdrawals a month

i made 2 within the first 6 days of the month, then one on the 18th

i forgot that yesterday was 1/31, not 2/1

the worst part is, the $70 fine dropped me under $0, so they tacked on ANOTHER $40 in checking fees or something

good thing i always leave a little bit of $$ at home, i sped to the bank and deposited it

HARSH...

I have a 'daily' limit with my card in the ATM's of £250 but this is to stop people stealing more money. I can get more by just going in to the bank. No limits for me in England.

i would call them, but it costs $2 that i dont want to pay =/

You don't want to pay the $2 to call, but are willing to take the $70 fee in the tailpipe? I'd think the $2 is a reasonable gamble to possibly get your fee back.

But hey - perhaps you aren't a betting man...

well, i just called wells fargo and they took the $40 fee off . . .

turns out that every time i TRANSFER money between the accounts, that counts as one of my 6 allowed transactions . . .

oh well, guess i'll won't make the same mistake next time

thanks, superpickle, i saved $38 because of you :)

why the hell does it cost $2 to call up your own bank? And if I ever made an honest mistake like what you did, I wouldn't just accept the fine, I'd go to the bank and talk to them about it and see if they could waive the fee. It's ridiculous that they would charge so much for a fee, but it's even more ridiculous that you're just letting them give it to you up the ass.

Wells Fargo has and always will be a huge shiat-stain on the banking community. NO customer service whatsoever.

There is a federal regulation (Regulation D) that limits you to six transactions per month from certain savings and money market accounts. It would be the same at any bank.

But... that fee is wells fargo's fault... My bank charges a $1 fee... I was irate about it until I found out it was a federal regulation. (wtf kind of rule is that?!)

My debit card is tied to my checking account - without the pin, you can't touch my savings..
So, if the card is lost/stolen, my risk is limited to cash in checking account.
I was regularly transferring money back and forth to limit my risks... got slapped on the wrist for it (which pissed me off) Still, their letter was so rudely phrased that I'm probably going to switch banks anyway.
