Digging through a few drawers cleaning out stuff, I found this. Must've been given to me as a Christmas gift back in 2003 or something, and I never used it. That's like a free movie right there 🙁

I know at least for the state of California that law exists. The reasoning is that for the merchant, they should treat the certificate as good as cash which does not expire.
 
D'oh! I always do that with those free McDonald's coffee coupons you get in the mail. I rack up like 30 of them because every one in my building just tosses them, then I tuck them away and forget about them.
