then change your settings.

i set mine so they'll notify me when updates are ready to be downloaded/installed. so i wouldn't have to worry about automatic updates.

So it's Microsoft's fault that you don't know how to setup automatic update so that it doesn't reboot your computer?

It normally does notify me....I just keep closing it b/c of the thing that was running. It decided to do it anyway in the middle of the night. I'm having serious trust issues with M$ here.

I have never had it do this. It notifies me when there are updates available. I install them when I feel like it.

But it doesn't sound like you made the necessary changes to keep this from happening again. As others have said, "why is this MS' fault?"

You can't properly configure Windows Auto-Update and you think you will be able to handle any other OS?

Heh...I do, got SUSE 10.1 RC 1 running with XGL. When XGL matures, it's gonna be awesome....it's still a little buggy right now though.

So because you're too stupid to run a computer means it's Microsoft's fault? Automatic Update isn't even turned on by default.

Next time, don't hit the cancel button after you do that.

It is on my computer. And I don't really appreciate your insults...you people don't get it, it notified me of an update and I told it it could download it. It proceeds to then download and install it, then notifies me every 3 minuts or so that I need ot reboot. I keep hitting later as I don't wanna reboot now, and it does it on its own.

you shouldn't have installed the update then if you didn't want to restart...

and can't you just goto command line and do shutdown -a to abort the shutdown anyways?
