I don't know what people find so good about the game.. it runs decent and looks good, but it hasn't drawn me in...

I agree. There is nothing spectacular about this game. It runs like hell on state of the art systems and is not especially interesting in any way. The AI is especially annoying. It will kill you dead within seconds even on the noob settings which is just stoopid. If I want to be frustrated like this I will load up MOH on a P2-300.

Waste of HD space.

runs just fine 1024x768x32 with all candy turned on on my system. Its very pretty and very fun to play.

Same here, 1024x768x32, no AA/AF, details to a mix of Medium or High, Radeon 9600 Pro 128Mb. Frame rates dip down to 40fps minimum, and I've seen them as high as 120fps. Might experiment later with higher detail settings :)

Sweet game... But yeah, it's damn difficult for us non-ultra-hardcore-gamers. So much so, that it borderlines on frustration.

I can't figure out how to get passed the old rusted out battleship... Like, it says to go into the crack in the middle - now where?

I'm loving the graphics AND ai in the game.. However, it is very hard to spot enemies until they are right up next to you. That part is annoying - they oughta make louder sounds and rustle the leaves of bushes and stuff. I do like how they have trouble finding you if you hide behind plants. But damn.. they almost always have about 5 shots on me before I even find them.

brxndxn: Here's how I did it. When you're driving up to the ship in the buggy thing, drive it off the edge of the cliff and onto the sand. Then drive up the sand strip which is to the right of the ship, and drive it into the hole in the side of the ship. Hop out, scout around a bit and you should find a couple of guys to kill immediately, right above you. Then, just skirt around the front side of the ship, and there's a hole, about two-thirds the length of the ship away from you to get into. Bingo :)

Can anyone help with where I am at the moment- I've met the CIA chick, and gone through the woods, killing a few Trigens (that part had me on the edge of my seat, highly scary), and come to the camp where you get the night-vision goggle.

However, no matter how I try, I can't kill everyone- I've tried sneaking, rushing, diverting their attention, coming from different angles, and no matter what I do, I get killed almost instantly. Sigh.

You have to swim out to the hole in the aircraft carrier. Your binocs and thermal vision goggles allow you to see/spot the baddies before they get that close to you. Try headphones if you have trouble hearing them walk up to you.

The hardest part for me are the (ie first 2 Volcano) maps that start in Close Quarter Combat wherein there are no fallback positions.

Have you tried from the hill overlooking the pier? You first have to clear that hill and the pier. Then use your binocs to spot the machine-gunner.

I tried the demo with a few different cards and the bare minimum that I would run is something like a GF4 Ti4200. As a matter of fact, the game didn't run all that well until I overclocked the card. It ran pretty good with my 9500 PRO and very good with my 9800 PRO. You really do need the hardware, so you can turn up the settings in order to really enjoy what these guys are talking about with the immersing feel of the game.

You're right. On min settings I could get 20 FPS or so probably with far cry. enough to get through the first few bad guys and bask in the graphics. On Painkiller it's like 10 fps!

heh just shows how slow ur vid card is. my dog slow 9000 pro runs smooth at 1024x768 min settintgs considdering how it looks, compared to other games i have, and how smooth it plays, its pretty damn scalable.

It reminds me pretty much of Soldier of Fortune II, and that's brilliant. I really like the slow moving FPS where you just don't run around like Rambo on speed, dodging lots of enemy attacks at the same time.

I wouldn't compare a game that isn't out yet, if you meant HL2. Yeah, I agree. It's one of those games where it just gets better and better as you play along. So you can't stop playing it.

Sim City , though, was my all time 'sucking my free time away' game.

Vice City (with the MTA online multiplayer mod) took up god-knows how many months of my life. I still hop on every now and then to see how much damage I can inflict to the Cheetah or Packer... :D
