GAH! ESPNU IS THE DEVIL

So espn launches espnU, which is not availiable on comcast, and espn360, which is not availiable to comcast internet users, then buys the rights to a fair number of Maryland games, including the one today. So the result is that most people, including the ENTIRE MARYLAND CAMPUS can't watch the damn game!

ESPN360? Is that like an all-extreme-sports channel?

it's basically IPtv... but espn is making ISPs pay for it, so as one person put it, it's almost like reverse net neutrality

Huh...usually its carried locally by a station

Yeah, usually you can get a UMD game on CSN, MASN or the local channel 20 (and big games are on ESPN or ESPN2, which we do get), but when ESPN buys them and puts them on ESPNU, nobody gets to watch

I've seen the problem with Espn360 before. Most campuses end up getting access to an account and then streaming it over the campus tv channel.

Same thing happened for the Wisconsin game, but with Charter.

that'd be nice, but i think espn would probably go ape-s**t on them... all three umd tv stations go out to the whole DC region, so that's be a pretty massive loss

People on the campus network were able to stream it online.
