Gah. Does the ti84 plus C silver edition use a standard connector?

I don't know where to put this. Whatever.

I've seen some charger cables on ebay but they're like $6.99 when I could get a standard USB cord for $0.99. I can't tell if it fits anything though and it won't plug into any cables I have.

EDIT: Appears to use mini-usb. I only have micro-USB. :| Welp, off to walmart I guess.

EDIT2: Some people say it's mini-USB A and some say it's mini-USB B. It looks like B. Ooh, looks like b is for charging and A will draw power. But they are the same. Why is and "a" cable $2 more then.
Oh, they are different. I thought USB was simple. :p

USB has like, what, three or four standards? And then two common fullsize connectors...used to be three mini/micro connectors (total of four, though I've never seen the fourth)...now dominated by one (micro something)...with the occasional use of one other (mini B I think). Yours is the one that's neither of those last two. Mini A?

Universal my ass.

That is a Mini-AB socket.

It accepts either Mini-A or Mini-B plugs. Mini-A is meant for hosts and not devices, so any cable you buy will likely be Mini-B.

Awesome! Thanks.

Exactly. :p
Seems like they could have normal, mini, and micro with the a and b built the same. Even if you reversed them power shouldn't flow back right? Idk much about wiring. :p

Hosts use A and devices use B to keep you from hooking up hosts to hosts or devices to devices. C finally does away with this limitation through an additional sense pin to prevent an incestuous connection.

I think it's the same as the "Ext" miniUSB (ExtUSB) included on the T-Mobile Google G1 (HTC Dream). It fits mini but also has extra pins for accessories like headphone jack dongles and such.

The "good" news is that they are creating a type "C" plug that's reversible in the USB 3.1 spec.

So now we can plan to throw out all of our MicroUSB cables and chargers and replace them with this new plug next year :)
