Gah, do you guys worry as much as I do?

All my life Ive been a person that worries a lot. Not in a bad way. Not like Im scared worried - more of a concerened want to figure sh!t out worry.

Alright, so Im 21 years old. Still live at home. (Its all good parents are cool with it as am I, however I would like to get going on moving out). Went to CC for 2 years and have 2 classes to take to get an AA degree, which I plan on doing.

Now, I want to continue college... but wtf. I don't know wtf Im going for, I can't figure out wtf I want to do with my life, and it just seems like a complete waste to get a degree in business or some other BS degree that everyone and there brother has.

I don't think that I'm a stupid person, however I know my limits. I consider myself to be very aware of things. I realize I have very good people skills, and am good at sales. Problem is I fvcking hate it. (Working retail for a few years will do that to ya eh?)

What am I supposed to bloody do? I have so many interests that I can't figure out wtf I want to do. Everytime I find something I think I might enjoy I find a reason why I don't want to/ can't do that thing.

Gah. I realize most of you guys on here work in computer related fields, which is cool. However it was probably pretty easy to decide on that. Oh look, Im good at computers as a 16 year old. Oh look, everything is run on computers now. Oh look it pays pretty well too. Ok, degree... check. Job. Ok done.

Me its like, hmm... Law would be fun. But Tuition is so damn expensive and I don't wanna go to law school for 18 years. Doctor? Again same situation. I like Philosphy, but wtf am I gonna do with a degree in that... talk to people about the meaning of life? How bout some sort of science field? I like scientific studies.... but I'm honestly not that good at the math portion of it so I don't think I'd be succesful in a career like that. Psychology? Maybe, I enjoy that sort of thing too. However, tomorrow I'll figure out something wrong with that. Start my own business? Awesome, how bout something sports related since that is one of my passions in life? Great... oh wait... Im poor. Negative. Gah. I think Ima rent a few more heist movies and go that route. Who wants in?!?

Cliffs: Fvcking sh1t! AGH!

One thing, stop being emo and listening to linkin park. Just suck it up. I plan on going into a field I don't like, and don't really care for, but it makes a lot of $$$. Work it awhile, save, enjoy life. From the sound of it, it sounds like you don't have much fun at all. If you stop being emo, and learn to have a good time, it'll solve itself

nope, I don't worry all that much.

I mean, in the grand scheme of life, the universe, and everything, my life isn't all that important... so who cares how badly I fvck it up? 😛

lol. Im far from emo, and despise emo.

Im glad you are going into a field you don't like. Unfortunately thats not acceptable for me. I figure Im going to work for the majority of my life, I want to F'in enjoy it. I will not slave away 40+ hours a week doing something I despise.

I don't hate it, I just don't care for it. It's a job, just do it? You enjoy life, don't have to enjoy work. Unless it is your life. You don't sound like you have too much fun in either way, and you still sound emo

You make a lot of assumptions.

I have fun, and generally enjoy life. A lot. I have a great girlfriend who I want to provide for and propose to fairly soon. Financial situations prohibit doing that properly at the moment though. I pretty much live for my g/f right now. I love her more than anything and we have tons of fun.

Its not like I despise life and everything, I simply am having a hard time deciding what I want to do with my life career wise.

Most likely you're not going to enjoy whatever job you get. Doctors and lawyers are among the most unhappy people in the country.

I make pretty good money, but my job sucks. I make up for it by abusing alchohol, women and my peers.

those cliffs aren't very good....

it just seems that everyone that goes into college and a lot of those that are in their 2-3 years at a 4 year institution still don't know what they want to do (same boat as you're in) so I'd say to jump into something and try it out....that's the only real way to see if you like the field...start going to school, maybe do co-op or internships...then find out what you want

Lol, this has emo written all over it. You have no idea wtf you want to do coz you don't live for yourself as stated above. You live for your g/f. Good luck finding a career

Do you have an obsession with emo's or something?

Maybe I misspoke. Its not like I don't live for myself. I have plenty of time to myself and thoroughly enjoy it. I think the reason I stated I live for my g/f is to express how much she means to me. And to show you Im not lonely in life, I have someone to share everything with.

Not to mention, I don't know how the hell living for someone else classifies you as emo. I'd say that classifies you as whipped.

Do you like working with people? If so, maybe you could go into something like social work. The key is to find something you like and do it. Also, if you really want to be a lawyer or a doctor, I wouldn't worry about the cost. There are plenty of students in those programs that take out thousands of dollars in loans to get them through school. You can always pay it off when you get a job after you graduate.

Hi!

try being more resourceful -- somehow.

make a list of possible pursuits that you would consider.
and trust me, you won't be able to think of all the ones that just so happen to interest you, and could make a living off of.
i hope you already have some list like this, one that isn't in your head.
if not, i highly suggest you make one and revise it as you see fit.

working for a job you love, but making a low wage may seemingly suck, but how much money do you really need or want?

think more about other perspectives.
be happy you aren't broke, stuck and starving and have HIV like in other 3rd world countries. You have food, a GF, and a roof under your head, and (i assume) no current money problems.

so plan things out for the future, gather all the perspectives, pros cons, and make decisions.
will you milk your freetime for all it's worth until you absolutely must get a job to make cash, or what?
what do you want to be remembered for?
what will you generally never tolerate when it comes to making money?

it seems to me, you got some important work to do 🙂

now if you so happen to get yourself better together, then I'd HIGHLY suggest milking your freetime for all it's worth.
find some side projects and hobbies if you don't have any (your GF shouldn't count for them all)

You think Newton was born with calculus in hie brain? Hell no. No one is good at maths to start with, it just takes a lot of dedication and a lot of work to get there. People who say "I'm not good at maths" are basically admitting they're too lazy to try.

You're going to be bored with something that you enjoy as well if you keep thinking that you're going to have 5 days a week, and 8 hours a day doing something.

Don't think of it that way.

For example: you like cellphones? Start buying, and then selling them. Sell just enough that you get by. You won't put your mind to it. Then eventually you'll start selling more thinking "Oh...I mad ~200 last week, let's see if I can make 250 next week".

If you think 40 hours of this won't be fun, think about computing: you don't want people calling you up saying, "Oh noes...my mouse isn't working" and then you going there realizing that they haven't even plugged it in.
Who cares about that? Make it an objective to see how many of those morons you can find per week, for example.

Think relative is the point. Don't think about: oh it might get boring.

The flaw in your thinking: that you have only this one chance to decide, that you HAVE to get it right, and that you have enough information to make that decision now.

There is no perfect answer. All your worries are pointless, since we cannot know wht lies in the future.

The best thing you can do now is to prepare yourself for a successful life. Learn how to "hold household" - that means spend less than you earn, put money away in savings. That habit will mean more than anything else as you go through life. No matter whether you're a doctor/lawyer or a fast food worker.

And learn to accomplish/finish things. If you wake up one morning and think, I want to clean out the car, then clean out the car - and do a little extra, like taking out the garbage or something. If you have homework to do, do it. If you're thinking about joining a gym, check out gyms and join one. This habit will make your life so much easier in whatever career you find yourself in.

I realize I have very good people skills, and am good at sales.

Law would be fun. Doctor? Again same situation. I like Philosphy... How bout some sort of science field? I like scientific studies.... Psychology? Maybe, I enjoy that sort of thing too. Start my own business?

something sports related since that is one of my passions in life

Some possibilities:
Sport Management
(positions in college athletic departments, professional sport organizations, sport governing bodies, event and facility management, ticket sales, public relations, sport marketing and promotions companies, sporting goods industry, sport media, YMCA?s, sport clubs, and parks and recreation departments.)

There are graduate degrees in sports marketing management and sports business management that would seem to fit with your skills.

Exercise and sports science
sports medicine
(Athletic Trainer, Physical Therapist, Strength and Conditioning Coach, Dietician and Nutritionist, Exercise Physiologist)

Good luck!
