I was working on a computer, it had been starting up fine, I shut it down and a few minutes later tried to turn it back on.....nothing, I am able to turn it on if I flip the switch on the power supply, like turn it off, wait a few seconds and then when I turn the power supply back on it will automatically start the computer but the on/off switch on the front of the computer does not work :hmmm: Has anyone had this problem before?

Dead switch maybe? Use a jumper or wire and briefly make contact between the 2 pins on the mobo that the switch plugs into.

yeah thats what I was thinking, but I dan't know of a way I could test it.... or for that matter fix it if that is what it is

It is a new computer for my uncle, I was setting up the bios, and after I installed the OS I found out the front switch was not working, it was working fine before I turned it on and off around 8-10 times

Huh 😕 What motherboard is it?

lol checked that as well, I tried it both ways 😛.......Ah crap I think I am going to have to get another board, now the USB ports are not working.....stupid soyo, is anyone selling a cheap (under 50) motherboard for socket 478?

Maybe the connector for connecting it to the motherboard is upsidedown.

That shouldn't make a difference... all the button does is close the power on circuit for as long as you are pushing it in.
