here's a why i think the Gladiator is one of the best hs out there.

There have been quite a few posts regarding this heat sink and this web site recently.

I don't condone what they have done, they have been guilty of things they shouldn't have been. So deal with them knowing there is a risk. The fact that they are not good people, however, doesn't change what can be said about this particular heat sink. i.e. bad people can make good products.

OCZ GLADIATOR

overall this is one of the best designed heat sinks on the market despite all the bad things that are true about OCZ.

VERY GOOD POINTS about the heat sink.

1. It's all copper (this is good thing).
2. The clip doesn't cut a swath in the middle of the hs like almost all the other hs and leave the middle part right above the core bare of fins.
3. It has 40 fins on there, 40. that's a lotta of area.
4. it's actually designed as a sucker, it has it's own built in shroud.
5. its compact, it will fit any socket-a motherboard, guaranteed.
6. for a copper hs it's actually not very heavy (because of size)

Negative Point about this hs.

1. the only negative that i can come up with regarding this heat sink, It's designed to work w/ a high speed fan. nothing else works on it. there are a couple of things i still haven't been able to try, eg. 40 cfm 80 mm fan w/ adapter might actually give equivalent performance to the 60 delta that I got off my WBK38.

Swifttech MC462-A, hands down the BEST with air cooling, period. Even better than the Alpha and the attachment to the motherboard pretty much eliminates ANY possibility of crunching the core.

Just a thought, they ain't cheap, $80 for the complete kit, $53 just for the heatsink. The best always costs more.

I have one on order, smiles.

All copper is a good thing, but isn't copper kinda bad at dissapating heat to air? Copper heatsinks would best be paired with a high CFM fan, which means more noise. I don't know for sure though, I use a Taisol myself and with good case cooling, its enough.

did any of you read my post?

sure the swiftech has better numbers, but its a huge hs w/ a VERY loud fan. both present there share of problems. i'm not saying that the Gladiator is perfect, but it costs half what the swiftech costs, fits on ANY Socket A mb and does a very good job of cooling.
