Hello Everyone,
I had been running my system fine with a Intel i5-2500k CPU.
I bought an i7 3770k and installed it today.

The system would not post with it in.
Put the i5 back in and it boots fine.
Researched and found that i should upgrade the bios.
Did the upgrade while in windows, booting off the i5.
So i am currently on BIOS ver F12 .
Put the i7 back in and its still not posting.

Starting to pull my hair out now. Researching it but cannot seem to find out what is wrong.

I have Nvidia GTX 560ti and 16GB of ram, 64GB SDD.

Am i missing something?

Any feed back is much appreciated!

Thanks

i may have just fixed it.
I have 16GB of ram, all 4 slots filled.
I didnt think removing ram should do anything, left just 1 stick in and it booted.

No idea what would cause that to happen!?

did you use a single kit of 16GB or 2 8GB paks?
Would be nice if you posted the exact RAM kit by number

I have Kit of 4 x KHX1600C9D3K2/8GX

It booted with just 1 stick.
Put all 4 in and wont post.
Put just 2 in and it boots, going to try 3 now.

I saw this problem with some Corsair memory a while back. The board defaults to the 1.5v on the memory and it does seem to like to go into flex mode with memory that wants to run at 1.65v. You might try to push the voltage a up a little to around 1.55v which is still with the limits of the 3rd generation Intel® Core™ (support memory voltage is 1.5v ±5% (1.425v to 1.575v)).

tired changing that volts to 1.55 but no change.
It does not post, it actually only stays on for like 3 seconds. then keeps trying to reboot over and over.

Boot loop issue was kind of common for those boards. Id definitely make sure you have latest bios. I also would have never purchased memory that requires above 1.5 volts on it, thats just absurd for DDR3 memory. My memory is like 1.25 volts.

The latest bios for that board is version "U1h":
http://www.station-drivers.com/page/gigabyte/ga-z68x-ud3h.htm
(When updating from legacy to UEFI, use only the utility attached to your BIOS file)
Note: may require creation of a bootable USB thumb drive. Boot to a DOS prompt, then flash the bios with the DOS mode flash utility.
Also: if you're looking for a lower voltage DDR3, I'd recommend the Samsung 1.35 volt 4 GB sticks.

I wasn't sure if I needed that bios version or not. I will try loading that.

I don't think any pins are bent. It all works fine with the i5 in.

I also never knew ram voltage was so important.

If the latest bios doesn't fix it I'm gonna buy new lower volt ram.
I want 16-32gb ram. And fast min 1600.

What do you guys suggest?

Thanks to everyone for their help!!
